Students and faculty from across campus attended a Spotlight on the Arts literary event Friday, November 4th featuring Emily Greenwood, Chair of the Classics Department at Yale University and Professor of Classics and African American Studies. Dr.

Alex Karsten, UGA Classics graduate student and a Leapling (celebrating his birthday on February 29th), is featured in a video on the UGA Homepage. Alex explains what led to addition of the day to the Roman calendar by Julius Caesar in 45 B.C.

Experiential Learning Student Spotlight: Adam Kazmi, a third-year student majoring in anthropology and classical culture with a focus on classical archaeology, describes his experience conducting research to study in Sicily, Italy funded by a National Science Foundation Grant:

UGA Classics explores Greek and Roman culture (material; intellectual; religious) from Troy to Augustine; Classical languages and literatures (Greek, Latin, and in English translation); and the reception of Classical Antiquity with A.B. and M.A. Classics degrees with multiple areas of emphasis.
