Mariah Smith

Mariah Smith is a lecturer in the Department of Classics at UGA. She earner her BA in Classics at Willamette University, her MA at the University of Kansas, and her PhD at Indiana University. She comes to UGA from the University of New Hampshire where she held the Responsible Governance and Sustainable Citizenship Project, housed in the Classics program of the Department of Classics, Humanities and Italian. Previously she was a lecturer in Classics at the University of Southern California. Her research focuses on uncovering the lived experiences of Romans during the high empire, with special attention to the contemporaneous but differing attitudes of Pliny the Younger and Martial.
